Scientific dissemination
Learn about the series of primers on Cadmium in Cacao published in a joint work with Agrosavia, Fedecacao and the University of Santander.

It is a set of primers with information on cadmium in cocoa and recommendations for its mitigation. The first primer explains basic aspects about cadmium and how it accumulates in plants and animals, as well as its effects on the health. The second primer presents advances from different research groups that have worked on this issue and their recommendations. The third primer presents the Colombian Government's plan on the issue of cadmium in cocoa and the projects from different institutions that are reseraching about it.
Education
RedECA is also committed with education and training in scientific research. Taking advantage of the teaching and research experience of the team, a practical guide was published that explains, step by step and in a didactic way, how to write a preliminary project or research proposal. This guide is useful for students that are training in different areas of science and engineering, and even professionals or teachers who are starting their experience in writing this type of documents.

Software
Within the framework of our network, we have developed three software tools aimed at facilitating biological analysis using images. Two of these programs specialize in the analysis of morphological parameters of Spirulina filaments, a microalga with multiple biotechnological applications. The first program allows for detailed and manual analysis, providing precise tools to measure and evaluate specific characteristics of the filaments. The second software automates this process by employing advanced image processing algorithms, performing the analysis quickly and efficiently, thus significantly reducing the required time and effort. The third software focuses on the analysis of seed germination and root growth exposed to different substances, which is crucial for assessing the biostimulant or phytotoxic effects.
